From the beginning of preform storage, attention must be paid to temperature and humidity control, otherwise it may deform. Then there is the conveying system. Since preforms have different shapes, there are requirements for the design of the conveying track. The preheating process is critical. The uniformity of the wall thickness of the preform and the heat permeability of the material will affect the heating effect. In addition, the size of the preform must match the mold. If poor quality preforms are used, the scrap rate may increase and the energy consumption of the machine will increase. In summary, the losses caused (loss, energy consumption, downtime for maintenance) will make the product more expensive.
The following are the detailed considerations for selecting preforms from the perspective of the production line:
-Compatibility with production equipment-
·Conveying system: The shape, size and weight of the preform must be smoothly matched with the conveyor belt, guide rail, rotating wheel, etc. of the blowing production line to avoid bottle jams, bottle inversion or unstable conveying.
①. Preheating furnace (heating box):
Heat permeability/heat absorption rate: The preform material must have good and uniform heat absorption characteristics to ensure an ideal and uniform temperature distribution within the set heating time. Inferior materials may cause uneven heating and affect the quality of blowing.
②.Dimensional stability:
During the preheating process, the preform should be able to maintain a stable shape to avoid deformation caused by thermal softening that touches the heating tube or affects transfer.
③.Wall thickness uniformity: This is a key factor. It ensures that the preform is heated evenly during the preheating process and will not cause various quality problems due to unevenness.
-Blowing mold-
①. Bottle neck size and tolerance:
The bottle neck size of the preform must be accurately matched with the stretching system of the blow molding machine and the neck clamp ring of the mold. Too large tolerances can lead to air leakage, inaccurate positioning of the stretch rod, inconsistent bottle heights, and even broken bottles.
②. Stretch blow molding process:
The PET material of the preform should have good ductility, tensile strength, and stress whitening properties, and can be smoothly molded at the set temperature, stretching speed, and pressure to achieve the expected transparency, strength, and appearance requirements.
Now it seems that choosing a preform is a systematic project. You can't just focus on the price, but also be able to seamlessly integrate into the production line process, and stably and efficiently produce qualified bottles. Therefore, we recommend that you use samples for small-batch trial production before using the new bottle production line to check the heating uniformity, the success rate of blowing, and the operation of the filling line.
